Care Instructions
Sometimes the messiest moments lead us to our greatest growth.
And in this case, the growth comes from immediately dealing with the mess you just created on your lovely cushions or quilt, and not procrastinating about it for weeks on end (me. I'm talking about me right now).
So you've spilt your coffee, or dropped your food on the couch. Do not fear! Your cushions and quilts can be washed, and here's how for each.
Velvet Cushions:
First, trying spot cleaning with a damp cloth. If you get to it quick enough most of the time this will be enough. If the mess continues you can turn it inside out and put in a cool gentle wash cycle. Make sure that you wash it separately or with other velvet items. Lay flat to dry, and cool iron on the reverse side to take out any wrinkles. (Most wrinkles will work themselves out from being used, the ironing is just personal preference or if your Nonna is coming over.)
Fabric Cushions:
Like the velvet cushions, try spot cleaning first. If that doesn't work then these cushions can go in warm gentle load. These can go in the tumble dryer on a cool setting, or lay flat to dry. The ironing is once again personal preference.
For cushions with tassels, please consider hand washing or placing a lacky band around the tassels to hold them together. They did not do well left unchecked, the frizz is real and not something I wish upon you or your cushion.
Dyed Wearables:
These are so simple! They have been washed by me with colour catches and textile detergent so all you need to do if wash them once by themselves, then you are free to throw into loads of like colours. I have not had an issue with colour blending with any of my dyed clothing (and I am not so careful with making sure that they are with like colours. Fortunately, my white clothes have been unaffected by this!).
Quilts:
Your beautiful handmade quilt, and you spilt something on it?!?
Is probably the thought going through your head right now, but don't stress. These quilts are made to be used and loved. I have split things multiple times before and a quick gentle load in the washing machine and drying flat has done the trick. The quilt will be a little fluffier after a wash, but as long as you don't wash it too often over it's lifetime it will still last for years 💕
